The last trip of 2016 was to sunny Las Vegas to celebrate Robert’s birthday. He worked through his last birthday on a business trip in Kiev – and to say it made him happy is an understatement. We made a pact – never again work on a birthday. We chose Vegas kind of as a joke. Since he had missed out on LV for his 30th birthday, this year was our chance to ring in his pretend 30th birthday in style.
We’ve had tremendous luck with staying at boutique hotels when we travel and Vegas was no different. I picked the Cromwell because of its location, almost directly across the street from the Bellagio, where I knew we would go to see a Cirque du Soleil show, and of course, the water show at night. The hotel itself was beautiful, with a French burlesque feel to it. In the photo above you can see a hint of a chair peeking out where there is a small but effective vanity. Immediately after coming home, I figured out a way to work that vanity into my bedroom.
One of our first meals was at Serendipity 3 across the street from our hotel. If Las Vegas is how most people are introduced to the US of A, it is no wonder they think we eat a lot. The portions were huge.
